Sean Hartley

Sean Hartley is currently the Director of the Theater Wing at the Kaufman Center in New York, where he is also Artistic Director of the Center’s resident theater company, the Poppy Seed Players. His musical theater works for adults include CUPID AND PSYCHE, written with composer Jihwan Kim, which was produced off-Broadway in 2003, and for which he received a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Lyrics. He received the Spirit Award for Best Book of A Musical for the musical LITTLE WOMEN (with songs by Kim Oler and Alison Hubbard), which has had several regional productions, including the Spirit of Broadway Theater, Syracuse University, the Waterman Theater, and the Village Theater in Issaquah, WA. His works for television include several songs for the Disney Channel’s shows THE BOOK OF POOH and BEAR IN THE BIG BLUE HOUSE. As a producer, he created and continues to produce the Merkin Hall concert series BROADWAY CLOSE UP and BROADWAY PLAYHOUSE.
